Ten Dollars

a Month

It is estimated that one in four residents in Alameda County is experiencing or at-risk of hunger, with BIPOC communities suffering the greatest disparity. Beyond that, the traditional resources that do exist are often inaccessible and less than dignified.

With A Meal a Month, a recurring $10 monthly donation will go directly to providing someone local in need with a nourishing, responsibly sourced, and dignified meal. You can make a difference with less than 33 cents a day.

SO FAR,

447,456 Meals Delivered

We believe in promoting transparency. Our Meal Tracker shows every meal we’ve cooked for community partners. Delivery stats reflect the number of meals donated as of April 24th, 2024.

The Story

Since its inception in May of 2020, Just Fare Community Kitchen has delivered over 400,000 responsibly sourced, thoughtfully prepared meals to communities throughout the Bay Area. By partnering with a network of over 40 hyper-local Community Based Organizations, we are able to get our food into the hands of people that traditional aid may not reach.

Food is made using the same standards as our Office Catering and Events menus: prioritizing locally grown, organic ingredients from womxn- and BIPOC-owned, independent farms.

In 2020 and 2021, grants from Alameda County primarily funded Community Kitchen operations. Now, through our Community Impact Program and ongoing fundraising efforts, we are trying to continue this life-sustaining work.

In 2022, Community Kitchen aims to donate 75,000 family and community meals, raise $600k, sustain 7 jobs on our kitchen and hospitality teams with full benefits, invest $250k directly into partner organizations, purchase $135k in the local food economy, with a 30% emphasis on supporting womxn and BIPOC-owned businesses. Through collective funding solutions we can secure the future of our Community Kitchen, the many communities it supports, and continue building a food system that is rooted in social justice.

DONATE ONLINE

Community Kitchen is the charitable arm of Just Fare, and it’s funded by a combination of public and private grants and donations. We prepare and distribute donated meals every week through a network of over 40 Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in the Bay Area. Donate today so that our partners can continue distributing delicious and dignified meals to the communities they serve!

If you’d rather support us with a check, we graciously accept and ask that you make it out to our fiscal sponsor, 18 Reasons.

JUST FARE CLIENTS

In 2021 we launched the Just Fare Community Impact Program, an internal and client-based funding strategy. Established to diversify the revenue of Just Fare Community Kitchen, it enables our clients to make additional tax-deductible donations via their monthly invoices or set amounts annually, match Just Fare’s 1% donation on their invoice, donate their normal meal value during office closures (i.e. holidays) or when headcounts are reduced. Event clients can make their event even more impactful by adding a donation amount to event fees.
